Bereavement teams of adults provide a meal for a grieving family following a funeral. Individual teams are contacted throughout the year as needed.
Ministry to Homebound make visits to those who are unable to leave home and visit the area nursing facilities. To share your time and conversation become part of this ministry! St. Vincent de Paul Society is the major parish outreach to help people in crisis. They offer support of food, emergency assistance, financial counseling, and spiritual direction. The St. Vincent de Paul Society operates out of The Sacred Heart House which is located at 30 Carolyn Drive, near the back entrance to Beaufort High School.
Home Visitation is an area of particular need for volunteers, visiting homes of those who have called asking for immediate emergency assistance. If you are interested in helping with home visitation, please call 522-9555 ext. 541.
Food Pantry is housed in The Sacred Heart House and distributes emergency food to those in immediate need. Volunteers are always needed for this ministry.
Medical Missions collects eyeglasses, broken jewelry, and canceled stamps to missions around the country. Franciscan Center is a diocesan outreach to the ethnic groups on St. Helena Island. As a parish, we provide assistance through the time our parishioners give and the collection of Christmas gifts, clothing, household items, and funds.
Thumbs-up, Inc. is non-profit organization established to provide tutoring and enrichment activities for “at risk children”. Volunteers are needed to provide one-on-one tutoring Monday through Thursday from 4:00-6:00pm to help children in grades 1 to 7 with homework.
Helping Hands drivers are needed at various times. Those willing to help may need to drive people to Mass or doctor’s appointments or make trips to the drug store.
